The topic this month is: "Travel".

This thread is only for posting your entry and any comments you'd like to make about your own photo.
If you would like to comment on other entries please use the comments thread.
As usual, one entry per person and the image must be your own work.
Normal forum rules and image size applies.

The image doesn't necessarily have to have been taken this month but we do encourage you to go out and enjoy the challenge.

The winner of the poll, which will be run at the end of the month, will get to choose next month's topic.

Good luck and good shooting.

When Robert Louis Stevenson wrote "to travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive", he was right.

When I travel, I sometimes find it helpful to lose myself for a while, as it forces you to look inside and find one's true self again.

Molly Malone in bronze, or as Irish call her 'the tart with the cart'. She is on Grafton St, Dublin. I hope you like her as much as the locals.

"with cockles and mussles....."

Well this is a sort of astro shot, but I had to travel a long way to get it!
This is sunset over the Subaru scope with the twin Keck domes to the right. Taken from the summit of Mauna Kea June 8 this year.
The land mass you can see to the right is the island of Maui, which is about 8250ft high, so top of the clouds is probably 6000ft. Shot was taken at just under 14000ft

The gargantuan yet graceful Queen Mary 2 catches the colours of sunset as she? embarks from Outer Harbour South Australia.

My first post in this section but seeing as we recently have been on travels it seemed appropriate.

This is the small volcanic island of Nea Kameni in the middle of the caldera at Santorini and the only way to travel to it is by boat or ship.
So in a way this covers the topic quite well as we travelled there, it shows the means of travel to get there and at a push it is the result of lava travelling through to Earth to create a new travel destination(I did say at a push :p).

Taking students to see the results of the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland, summer 2010. The dust is the volcanic ash blowing in great clouds on dry days, turning everything grey, periodically reducing visibility to near nil.

This is our modest little Travel Machine.
We hope it will continue to safely Travel around Australia with us.
Here it is at a beautiful Travellers Pit Stop, on the picturesque Tuggerah Lakes.

I think that fulfils the Travel subject criteria.

Well since there are a few volcano based images, thought I would throw mine in the mix. By far the most amazing travel experience of my life so far... The mighty Mt Yasur on the island of Tanna - Vanuatu.

Haven't been really travelling lately, but every day I need to get to the City and get home again, sometimes I take the train. Here is the following Kuraby train coming into Coopers Plains Station.

I'd rather be travelling in the back seat of this 'Long Ranger',than taking a photo of it-took this while birding on a sand dune near Noosa-bird in the back looks good!
