I took these around 11am to 11.30am. Taken with a Fuji Finepix camera on full zoom with 99.9% block out solar film blu tacked to the lense. I zoomed them in a bit further with Windows Photo Viewer.

I'm soooo happy I got to see it! We had a months worth of rain in 24 hours here yesterday and some pretty serious flooding and I was feeling so bummed out yesterday thinking the clouds wouldn't clear.

My cheap and crappy telescope refused to line up so I gave up on it.

Another interesting thing I discovered is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get good shots. The solar film I used was a cheap plastic based one. I spent a small fortune on an A4 sheet of baader film but the white light glow almost obscured Venus in those shots. The cheaper film (used in the shots above) was far superior.

A funny thing happened while I was sitting in the car up loading the pics to my lap top. I had a guy pull up and ask for a look at the pics and then, god help me, a huge bus full of elderly tourists pulls up and the driver/tour operator gets out and asks me if I can jump on the bus and show everyone the photos. He handed me a microphone and got me to walk up and down the aisle showing all the passengers the pics and speak on the loud speaker about how often Venus transits happen etc.. I had my oldest tracky daks on, my hair was a mess and I've a huge zit on my chin. I was completely taken unawares and not expecting to have to give an impromptu speach to 50 or so strangers....LOL!! I was completely unnerved by the experience.

That is a great story - did you get a round of appluase from the audience Rebecca?
We certainly were lucky - solid clouds on the days either side of the transit and just a few hours of blue during.
