Transit snaps from Melbourne

A few small images from a surprisingly clear Melbourne this morning. I'll leave the detailed images to those skilled with good equipment! Very exciting to see the transit after so many cloudy skies in the last month or so. And a much better view than I had from Edinburgh eight years ago - which was just a glimpse through clouds. Looking at the satellite imagery, we have Tasmania to thank - it's provided a shield from the clouds coming off the ocean towards Melbourne!

The first image is about the moment of ingress ... guess which side of the Sun that was on! Fortunately the clouds parted a few minutes later.

I showed the neighbours and some random people on the street too - the expressions on their faces when you said the next transit was 105 years away was something to behold! The neighbour's 4-year-old kid might just have a chance of seeing the next one, having seen this one, but he'll be 109...
