I photographed these on the job today in Canberra's south. I've seen them around the state from time to time, but it's been one of those species that has eluded me because of bad timing. (Not carrying the camera).

Curious passers-by on foot and in vehicles twice approached and scared them off because they saw me crouching on the ground with a big camera and lens.... bloody annoying.

This is why I wear a ghillie-suit in the national parks, to stop people coming over and spooking a critter I have just spent time stalking to get close.

Baz.

Very Nice Baz,
We have them around home a fair bit and I've managed a few good shots of them as well. They are are great little bird and not too touchy as I have gotten quite close without the camo gear.
These shots of yours are very good though great colour.

Oh believe me, the cammo gear is not just for the animals...it's for the twits that might see me and come over to see what I'm doing.... :mad2:
