ED127 with Moonlite

Well, it had to happen. The ED127 has to move over. I'm simplifying my whole setup and shedding more of my scopes.

This is a splendid 127 F/7.5 to which I have attached a Moonlite 2" CF focuser with their HiRes stepper motor and MiniController. It's a strong and very accurate focuser that is easily and reliably controlled in ASCOM under MaximDL and similar programs.

I'll post up some images in the morning but I'm guessing you all know the ED127 as a good quality APO the only drawback of which is the miserable focuser supplied with the original scope - hence the Moonlite which makes this a very good imaging scope. It's undamaged - might be a smudge here and there on the OTA I suppose but it's always been in the obs and not moved around at all.

The scope comes in a sturdy original Aluminium case, with a 2"/1.25"adapter and good rings but I'd like to hang onto my Lomandy bar so would prefer top sell it without that.

I'm offering it at A$1800 plus whatever shipping may be involved. I have an Explore Scientific right-angle finder with illuminated reticle I'll throw in as well if wanted (for an additional A$120).

Peter - a few questions:
1) would this scope be too much scope for a EQ5 ( with gotoNova ) when kitted up ? I think EQ5 limit is 11Kgs.
1a) would a Vixen mount plate be OK ?
2) how much drawtube focus has the Moonlite ? I'd wish to add my DMK41 camera and/or visual options. ( On my Coronado the two positions
and quite different on the drawtube .)
3) can the Moonlite work standalone as well as PC attached?
4) any idea what freight/postage to Tasmania would be ?

Peter this is a good price but alas I have one already and Brett I use it on a HEQ5Pro with a 66mm WO APO piggybacked.

I seem to get mixed descriptions over these ED127's - Does this one you have for sale come with or without a colliminable lens cell?

The scope comes with a Vixen-style bar but it's pretty insubstantial.
The focuser has a clutch you can easily disengage for manual use.
Not sure about draw tube length - I'll measure it in the morning.
Freight is a guess only. I'd guesstimate something like $200 witha carrier - like that crowd Pack n Send.

The cell is collimatible but I have not felt any need to do so and don't recommend it unless you really know what you're doing.

Hi Peter collimating a refractor is simpler than a newtonian , why do you advise against it? Unless your thinking about moving individual lens elements relative to one another. In a collimatable lens cell adjustment is easily made with a Cheshire eyepiece , collimating being achieved when both reflections of the cheshires diagonal reflected by each lens element superimpose.I remember doing this with a skywatcher 150 many years ago.

Ah well, I expect someone will see the value in it. It's one of those scopes you almost have to use to get a sense of how good they are. I've had 2 of them now and pleased with both.
