Hi,

Just trying to get a little preparation in for the Venus transit while the sun shines so to speak - in Melbourne.

This is my first post of this type so please be gentle - all constructive criticism appreciated.

Captured using a Lunt LS60Ha, and a Point Grey Mono Chameleon using a c-type 0.5 reducer to get the attached FOV. Tracked manually on an Alt-Az mount.

Stacked using AutoStakkert!, and colourised and adjusted using Adobe CS4 (my skills in which are quite limited!).

It was a learning experience, largely using camera defaults (over exposed in the core), and I did an average job of focusing etc - but i'm happy with the overall image for a starting point.

Enjoy.

Jamie

Wow that looks great. A lot better than many of my attempts.
Cheers,
Nathan

I'd be happy with that effort. I'm not an astro photographer but for a first effort you have done really well and you should only get better with more experience. Well done!

Interesting image, lots of detail. I wonder why the hotspot is off-centre? Is that something you did in PP?

Cheers
Steffen.

ummm .... not intentionally no.

I think it had to do with the camera auto exposure and the fact it wasn't centre in the frame....

Thanks Nathan!

Thanks Hickny - there are some pretty awesome images posted up here - so there is certainly room for improvement.
