LOL just got a phone call from so called technical support at flinders in the city regarding my computer.
How dumb do they think I am lol. My Response was "I'm sorry I don't own a computer " lol

Yes, my daughter kept getting the same calls for 6 months.
Told her she had a virus and wanted access to her computer so they could fix it.
She is not that stupid. Reported it to Telstra and the calls have now stopped.
Scum, the lot of them.

I used to ask for the IP address of the infected computer, which got boring fairly quickly, so now I tell them they need to talk to my sys-admin and hand them off to my 4 year old. She always has plenty to talk to them about!
I wish there was a way the do not call register could extend to international calls.

I had the same call a while back. Fortunately, I hardly get any of these scammer calls, but when I do I talk rather rapidly, and with authority, and say "How did you get this number? You should not have this number as it is a classified number! You are in serious trouble! What's your name...... and that is as far as I got before they disconnect. I have more to add to freak them out, like we are tracking you with our spy satellite, but they never stay on the line long enough! :D

They can get pretty abusive once they cotton on to you, if you take them on a bit of a ride, so to speak.
I had one guy tell me where I should plug my keyboard

Hi,
Yes they do, I have had that happen also.
It's a bit of a fine line to tread if you decide to have a bit of fun with them, there are stories of such people being afterward harassed with many nuisance and abusive calls as some sort of payback.
Cheers

I have two default responses to telemarketers, people trying to sell stuff, charities asking for my hard earned, phone companies offering their crappy products, solar panel 'offers', electricity/phone companies offering bogus discounts/upgrades/deals, lame local community surveys etc: Hang up or eat one of a variety of 4 letter words in my inventory.
Infact, I rarely ever pick up my home phone anymore, as it's almost guaranteed to be one of the above parasitic worms. Bonus points on the rare occasion when they can speak english so they can comprehend my disgust and frustration.

My son has the perfect response to these serial pests.
He just says "hang on and I'll get Dad" then just leaves the phone off the hook and goes about his business.
They soon hang up.

Ditto. I don't get any fun. :D I'm waiting to tell them their malware won't run under Linux, but if they send me the source code I'll try to compile it. :confused2:
