Hi All,

Imaged Saturn last night in variable seeing that produced one reasonable RGB. Have attached said RGB and associated "R" channel image along with animations of all RGB and all "R" channel data.

I have also put together an animation with 1 RGB from each month, Jan to May to demonstrate the changes in apparent diameter, ring tilt and the shift in the shadow being cast by Saturn on the ring ansae, from being on the preceding ansae for Jan, Feb & March to there being no shadow on the rings at all at opposition in April to the shadow swapping over to the following ring ansae in May. Also note the shadow from the rings starting to appear on the Southern hemisphere April, May.

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

Wow!!:eyepop:

That animation is great! its one thing to look and notice the changes month by month, but to see them sped up and in such detail is incredible. Great job!

Thanks

Thanks very much Jeanette, I really enjoy putting together animations, reckon they underline just how dynamic the planets can be.

Thanks very much Davin, I have been planning this for a while, waiting to get enough spread of data to demonstrate, even in a small way, the amazing apparent gyrations Saturn goes through. The changes in the shadows & ring tilt over 5 months certainly made the effort worthwhile.

Thanks very much Deeno.

Thanks very much Troy.

Thanks very much Ray, it's been a strange year up here with Saturn some very good seeing mixed in with a lot of pretty ordinary seeing, it seems that it has been a crook year, that said I have 239 images of Saturn on PVOL for this year, including 138 RGB's.

Thanks very much Leon, appreciate your kind words.

Thanks very much Derek.
