We were at Cable Beach in Broome for the CFO's birthday. I wangled a few hours off on May 23 to do a bit of star gazing. All images Sony a200 + Tokina 11-16mm, 20 sec, ISO1600. Various stacks of 3-15 frames.

Greg says to get rid of the Broome sky glow you have to go about a 100 Km out of town. He was pointing out objects for the other people with a laser in #2, but that's not the same frame the aircraft lights come from.

Did you point North for the star trail?

South, Marc. Crux is somewhere in the upper centre.

AutoPano insists on stacking on the foregound. I tried Nebulosity stacking the stars but it doesn't cope with the distortions from the 11-16mm lens at 11mm. I've attached Neb's verison of the trails.

Early in the night we could see the complete Big Dipper but it was dropping below the horizon before I could get any photos.

Cool. It's funny to see the SCP so close to the horizon. Going to Vanuatu in July. I'll try to get the big dipper whole with a 50mm or something if the boat doesn't rock too much .
