View Full Version here: : GSO Sky view
Hi everyone;
Ive got a GSO skyview equatorial mount and was hoping someone could direct me to a site where I could buy tracking/drive for it, or a drive that would work with it.
Thanks...Jules :)

hi
I got one from Andrews a few years ago. I think they still sell the mount, so may still have the drive.
The mount/drive is just good enough to allow imaging up to about 10 seconds exposure with reasonable star shapes (with shortish focal lengths and in no wind at all), but it is probably best suited to keeping things in the field of view for visual use. It is even (just) good enough for long focal length planetary imaging with a largish chip (eg QHY5), although it is a pain to keep a planet in the field if there is any wind at all.

:) Hi Jules , I am fairly sure that any generic duel axis drive will fit your mount , :thumbsup: , these mounts are all Vixen clones , and weather they are any of the Chineese brands they will fit , $199 - $249 is the going price for these , either Andrews Comm , or Bintel , sell them . :hi: .
They make viewing a breeze .
I have a few set of these drives and , driving the mounts of mine now , for 5 years now are both , the Vixen and chinese versions , and they both aint missed a beat , some are 6 volt , and some are 12 volt , so be weary of the after market power sources and check the imputs .
My Vixen drive is 12v , and my Synta is 6v and they both work really well . ( both Duel axis drives) and over the years I have not really touched either.
Truthfully tho , the Vixen is a better system all round . ;) .
Hope this helps mate .
Brian.
Hi Ray;
Thanks, I got my mount from Andrews too but they no longer have tracking for it. Im only using an 80mm refractor on it so its rock solid for visual.
I was wondering if anyone knew whether any other brand was compatable with the GSO Skyview.
Cheers
