Hello,
Well I am going to sell my big scope because I have a smaller one now that I can actually use!
However I really don't know what it is worth, I was hoping to get some advice, a general idea so I know what to ask for.
It doesn't have a mount or a cover for the top, I have attached a couple of pictures.
It is a Meade, I'm pretty sure the mirror is 16".
Sorry this is a bit vague.
Anyway I want to offer a fair price, any help would definitely be appreciated!
Thanks very much

I'll give you $50 for it, no questions asked ;)
Seriously, the answer would probably depend on the state of the primary mirror. A new 16" Dob is probably pushing $1500-2000 brand new, but few are solid tube these days (must be a beast to lift!), so maybe towards $1500 (new) as solid tubes seem cheaper than similar truss tube models at Bintel.
But with no cover on the top, the mirror may not be in such great condition any more (??), so quite apart from it being second-hand, and lacking the mount, that could knock something off the value. I also see that a 16" primary mirror from Bintel retails for $1600 - the mirror's your main asset so that may help determine the "as new" value. Perhaps ATM types might be interested in the optics?

Hi,
As Daniel said try the ice trade archives at the link below, I think you may find it is the same scope,
if you compare your photos with the ones at this link you will see that even the scuff marks on the scope are the same.
This should give you an idea of what someone was asking for this type of scope around 4 years ago.

Have you ever checked it focus or taken an image on it that shows what its mirror can do? As said above - its basically 90% dependant on the quality and state of the primary mirror.
If its a junk mirror is not worth much, if it has 1/15th of a wavelength diffraction precise grinding and in great condition its worth thousands. What condition is the mirror in? What's the history of the OTA?

Thanks very much for the help - it's the same scope as in the link.
I'll just knock a couple of hundred of that price and see how it goes, cheers :)
