5D Mark III sample studio portraits

Some I shot today (yesterday, now).

Processed and output directly out of DPP. Will clean up the background/edges and push them to pure white in post.

All shot with the 70-200mm f/2.8L USM lens and all at 1/125s f/5.0 iso400.

This camera is unlike anything else I've shot. The new BG-E11 grip is absolutely fantastic -- it melds with the rest of the body seamlessly and is reminiscent of the 1-series bodies. The addition of the new joystick on the grip is so good!

I'll be shooting 70 headshots today. Will be lots of fun! :eyepop:

Very nice shots Humayun, but I'm a little confused. Are you implying that the 5D Mark-II would now suddenly be incapable of producing the same? :shrug: Or, are you simply saying that you're enjoying using the newer camera? :P

PS - Where are you doing these?

Well Chris I was also thinking along those lines, before the mark 3 the Mark 2 was the ants pants, then before that it was the 5D original, i suspect they all would produce a fine image, I have one.

Not hanging it on H, as they are all nice shots, but would not any of the other 5D's produce the same, and I'm sure the lens has a lot to do with it, :shrug:

The 5D and 5D Mark II don't hold a candle to the 61-point focusing system on this camera.

You simply do /not/ have to focus and recompose any longer. You choose the point closest to/on the eye and it's guaranteed to lock on. Particularly in Spot AF mode (won't lock on to the frame of a pair of glasses someone is wearing and will focus on the eye instead). In addition, for a few shots, I enabled AI Focus AF and let the camera take care of my slight rocking or the subject's movement in tracking mode.

Yes, I could have done these with the older cameras (and, I love them to pieces -- both of them were game changers), but, to for me to deny that the new camera is better (has slightly more dynamic range, better/cleaner ISO performance) would be folly.

I will still shoot my other two cameras as I love them lots and they have produced me many wonderful images.

I guess the post didn't make much sense without quantifying why I felt it was like no other camera I have shot before: the focus system, the focus system and the focus system!

Not picking on ya H, just wondering about this 5D line up, I suppose one should try them out before commenting to much.
