Greetings all,

I had a little H-a fun with this region these past few nights from Coonabarabran. I actually had to hold back my temptation to add more contrast.

Gorgeous John

the 'Black Hole' is very striking in this image.

40 minute exposures! Cool.

Magnificent!

I always wondered what this field looked like through the FSQ. I shot it several years ago with a modified 350D and a Nikkor 180mm lens, from memory. It came out beautiful.

Look forward to trying it with the FSQ/STL. :)

You will be very happy with your STL on the FSQ. For narrowband, I highly suggest the long subexposures if your sky can handle it. My FSQ is on a Paramount ME and with Atlas focuser is rock solid with the Proline 16803. The combine of 9 x 2400s yields low noise images. These are combines with 30 matching dark frames.

The image itself can actually use a little more stretching to give it a bit of "sparkle", however this was done on the fly to see some of the 100GB of data I've collected recently on numerous southern objects.

BTW, the Atlas focuser is so solid, I'm actually making focus corrections during the 40 minute subs as temps drop. Especially important in the recent cold temps in the Warrenbungle region and we all know that the FSQ has a high temperture sensitivity.

Thank you all for looking and the kind comments.

This is going to be a cracker of an image when it is done. So many cool objects within the field.
