Taken on Sunday night just before someone bought something astronomy related. Still managed 3hrs 45min, which I'm very thankful for. :D

SXVR-M25C / VC200L; 15x15min subs, stacked in DSS, processed in PSCS3. Conversion to jpeg and compression not withstanding, I'm still pretty happy with the outcome.

Nice work, Paul! Some colour too  In the crop the vertical diffraction spikes on the star to the right are doubled. Any idea what is going on there?

Cheers,
Rick.

A great photo -
what a good combo:

SXVR-M25C RGB Bayer 23mm APS Format CCD Camera

Vixen VC200L - 8" f/9 Modified Cassegrain OTA

You've done well.

Nice image Paul. I just ran your data through some rountines I have and there is colour data there and plenty of it too.

I boosted the saturation up significantly around 48% and the colour bounced out.

Some selective sharpening helped with the dust lanes too.

So whatever you have going on with this colour issue I suspect it has to be some setting some where in your software that is not right. Be assured though you have good data and it contains plenty of colour.

Thanks folks, I'm glad you like it. Its great to finally get the colour sorted out.

At a guess I'd say a double star Rick. Real or optical?

Thanks Paul. The main issue I was having was the bayer layout for DSS. With the wrong settings it was coming out pretty much grey. I might have another look at it and see what else I can do with it though.

Not that long ago, if someone had shown me that I would have been mesmerized, we are so spoiled now. A solid result that could probably be further enhanced

Very nice Paul. You're cranking out some great images with that setup.

I was saying something along the same lines a short while ago Mike. I was trying to explain to someone how far amateur astrophotography has come come in the past 10 years with off the shelf equipment. It truly is mind blowing when you think about it. And so much fun :D

Thanks Simon and Pete. Yes Pete, now that I think I've finally got the camera worked out I can start to fine tune things a bit. There's still a bit of collimation tweaking to do, and I want to start looking at optimized times for different objects ... and getting the colour balance right a bit more easily in PS  ..... and brush up on some barely remembered processing skills. Its been a long time between AP binges over the past couple of years.;)

Wonderful view Paul, although looking forward to seeing some more colour. Every since Dietmar used one of these cameras some years ago I have marvelled at its ability. All the best.

Thanks Lester. Yes Dietmar keeps springing to my mind, to seek his advice on processing the images. He did some fabulous work with it, which is partly why I decided on this camera in the first place when I was choosing a few months ago.

Lovely details. Would also like to see more color saturation and some red and blues but a great shot nonetheless.

Sensational image.
