As my mum used to say...bunch of grown men in tight shorts chasing a leather bag of wind around a paddock, then hugging, kissing and slapping each other on the bum when they got it between the white sticks....

Was looking like it was going to be a good contest!
Ended up being the worst game I've ever seen.
Gee I miss the old days..........

Here I am living in enemy territory and another year starts the same way!! I remember when I played that you had to hang on to the ball all the way to the ground for a try to be awarded. How times have changed... :(

I do enjoy a good game of rugby, although being a S.A chap, the rules are not that well entrenched in me. So how can such, (dropped ball) be allowed as a try??? With video replays and umpire reviews this escapes me.
Is this blatent cheating? If so could this be the end of state of origin? Even the Queensland coach said it was a try, with a smirk on his face. I am puzzled.

The video refs watched it a dozen times from every different angle. They know the rules better than all the armchair experts, and their ruling was that the ball was kicked out of his hands by Farah, so play on.
We would have won by 2 anyway. Oh, wait. Blues supporters will predict the future and say it would have ended differently had the try not been allowed... :)
Worst game ever? Doubt it. Plenty of breaks, was close still with 10mins or so to go. Wasn't the best game I've seen, but was pretty good nonetheless.
My only disappointment was that Brent Tate should have got Man of Match. He was attacking, defending, putting in 100% for the full 80mins. Making breaks, had a blinder I reckon.

The game had it all. Some great tries, a bit of biffo and a bit of controversy.
And we won!!!!!

I think if we'd been ahead by 2 points at the time, we would have been robbed because I think Farah's foot connected before it was in GI's hands. But you can't be robbed of what you don't have ;)

Dunno how Phil Gould would feel about being called an armchair expert.......by an armchair expert

Umm, I acknowledge I don't know the rules as well as professionals involved in the sport. That's why I didn't offer my take on any rule itself, just pointed out that there are professional referees that do know them back to front. It's not like it was a snap decision made on the spot like in the old days before they went to the video. It was scrutinised several times from every camera angle available by professional referees.
Professional referees, by the way, that also must be careful to be neutral in their decisions and comments. Unlike your mate Phil Gould, one-eyed Blues supporter and former coach ;) Quite often the comments I've heard him make are criticisms against the rules, ie he doesn't agree with them. But the refs are bound by them, unlike his mouth.
Direct quote from a mate of mine this morning, a staunch NSW supporter -
All in good fun. Bring on Games 2 and 3 I say.

By the way, I reckon if NSW had won the game, you'd have all the QLD supporters claiming that the first NSW try was a knock-on or something and shouldn't have been allowed. Human nature.

I enjoyed the game.
And although i would have welcomed a more spirited NSW effort (ie a win) I can't stand the whingers either.
It was a good close hard game.
a fine spectacle.
And as usual, Queensland showed more dogged determination and intestinal fortitude to finish on top of a talented NSW team.
NSW did start the better, and if they stuck to the game plan may have caused an upset.
But as soon as Queensland put on a bit of pressure, NSW fell to pieces.
I can't remember seeing more "one-out" runs.
Made defence too easy for Qld.
Well done brothers.
Lets hope NSW learns from the experience.
But in the end I felt the old thinking came true again,
A team of GREATS was beaten by a great TEAM. (IMHO) :scared3:

I think you are a little confused ...
although it was played in Melbourne, we are NOT talking about a game of VFL here. ;)

That's odd. On SMH they quoted Ricky as agreeing with the ref's decision:
