Getting some good results with the Canon EOS 400D (no scope). The photo is a quick and dirty reduced res. image of the centre of the Milkyway:17 shot (30 sec) stack.

How The Milky Way is beautiful! What a pity that I have never seen SUCH even using telescope.

A very good shot. I think that is slightly out of focus. Best to use live view and magnify an image of a bright star or take a focus image and zoom in on it to check the tightness of the stars. DSLRs are hard to focus at night. Live view makes it easier though. Make sure ISO is whacked up so you can see a star or two.

As Greg has said, it is not quite in focus.
Sadly the 400D does not have live-view :(

Great image. Was this from a fixed tripod and what ISO setting did you use?
