This is a bit of a fill in image and one that I wanted to get right. The previous version of this image just did not look right and did not contain enough data. This one is getting there. All subs were 5 minutes. I could do with maybe another similar amount from this session.

Very nice Paul, but a wee bit burned out in the core I feel.

Thanks for pointing that out JJJ, sorted now I think. 5 minutes subs can burn out when stretching and doing curves work. Still some burn out present but better than the previous image.

I have left the previous image here so that people can compare if they like.

Love the star colours Paul. So many small background stars!

That's a great shot - even a cute little spiral edge on -
right side between center & top.
Well done.

Liked the first version the best...the second looks to have too much contrast.

That said... a top-shelf rendition in either case. Very tidy!

Beautiful - gold and blue stars all the way to the centre.

Great shot Paul and a nice FOV. It looses colour towards the core but maybe the stars got saturated? I had to limit myself to 3min subs when I did this one last month and still a few of the red giants got slightly saturated. This cluster is so bright :)

Lovely, those stars are small!

Nice Paul. Very tight image and great colors. Do you find LRGB on this gives better results than just RGB ?

Very nice. Particularly like the sharpness and natural star colours - still bright like stars but with that hint of colour. Sometimes these can be overdone IMO - too red and blue but not not here.

You used a 12" RCOS, yes? Stars are sooooooo sharp. :eyepop:

Very nice Paul. I've had two goes at capturing this from the burbs but none as successful as this. Good to see you getting some imaging happening.

Thanks all for the comments.

There is another one if you take a look around. :)

Funny I had thought initially that was the best look, but as the sun set and the natural light left the room it looked too bright to me and did not contain enough contrast. Some thing to ponder, thanks for the observation.

Some thing to consider Rolf next time. Perhaps even put in some shorter subs to control the core burn out.

Thanks Chris, I did not do a 1x1 on the RGB so I am not certain about what difference that would make. I suspect 1x1 would be fine. I just happened to be doing luminence, but maybe should have considered doing 1x1 only.

Yes star colour can be hard not to over or under do. I like more saturation but that is not to everyones taste.

No this is with a 102 TSA. My first real target for the 12" RC is still rising.

Your 120 TSA should produce excellent results on this object. Maybe the light pollution is drowning out star colour. Adelaide seeing might play a small part too.

Very nice Paul, you managed to render the stars with their colors while maintaining the image very natural. I don't see some of the defects reported by others, however since I had a chance to see the image only now possibly I am enjoying already the latest version :)

Lovely picture of a classic

Yes quite nice Paul, lovely subtle star colours as Marco says ...only thing I will say, and as per your last Omega effort, it looks like you have again prosessed it in such a way that it has a small circular bright core (ala 47 Tuc) when IMO Omega should have more of a large bulbous and slighly oblate ball like appearance .

Actually that is a good point Mike. I must have done something along the way to create that view but had not seen it until now. I have sorted this I think and you should find the image on the site to be more in keeping with how the cluster looks.
