Just been going through some shots I did last year at the Bungle Bungles in preparation for another trip in late May. These are from June, first one 24mm and 2nd 14mm Samyang. Both with 5D2 at iso 3200 in moonlight. A great spot for moonscapes.

Wow, fantastic!
I'm going there with the Ken Duncan group in late June and this has given me enormous inspiration!

Really nice pics !
The first one also ?? Seems that this is taken in a moonless night.

Cheers guys.
Marc, the 2nd one took me a bit by surprise as I hadn't realized the moon would penetrate so deeply into cave. Apart from the Milky Way being there, that shot can only be taken at night with the moon overhead in winter. The sun is generally too low and too far north to penetrate and when high in summer the park is closed.
Mike, that's great to hear. How many days in the Bungles?
Greg, many great shots still to be taken in that park. Do it!
Skysurfer, yes both shots in moonlight. The 1st was taken a couple of days earlier with less moon.

Great shots, fantastic composition.
The first shot gives the feeling that those mountains are really ancient.

Yeh, great stuff, those two hills look awesme.
How did you combine the sky and foreground? They look just a little disconnected to me :confuse3:
ED. then again..after another look it looks ok...I always get the same impression when I see shots like this, when the foreground is well lit and the Milky Way so obvious, it somehow looks unatural..but it's probably just a mental issue on my part :P
Mike
Great images Colin, magnificent setting!!

Thanks All for the positive comments.
Both are single captures. I like the challenge of capturing a scene like this in camera. I'm with you though, it looks a tad unnatural because our eyes never see it like that.

Excellent shots, how dark was the sky and what post processing was used?
