A test run of gear today, never ever looked through a scope at the sun,or done any solar images. So these are my first attempts.

The view through a Vixen ED 81 with 13 mm Naglar type 6 looked quite sharp around midday.I did not have a huge amount of time, but enough to do a basic test run.

Any pointers for focusing a dslr on the sun welcomed, this seemed tricky.iso 200,speed 1/320

Thanks for looking,Chris

I hope you catch an aircraft and Venus in transit together.

I am still trying to perfect the focus as well. At least there is plenty of time to get it right.

Focusing on the sun is tricky, and I have made a sunshield to stop the camera getting too hot as well.

Hi Chris - great stuff - I have no solar experience with DLSR!

Thanks Matt,Peter and Stu.

Yes,I'll keep that tip in mind Peter,I was fairly pleased with these basic results,I'll just be happy to get a transit of Venus image, like many on the
forum. This will be about my limit for solar photography-I'll be happy just to sit back and view the great sun gods' (Dennis's) wonderful images of the unique event.
