Hi all,

I thought ananswer to my question has been posted but for the life of me I cannot find it.

i have been trying to find a link that will show me the apparent sizes of venus and the sun during the transit through different scopes/magnifications.

that way i can choose to just use the ED80 or the 10" dob...

if anyone knows of one would you be able to post the link to it here?

cheers,
DJDD

From http://www.astronomy.org.gg/venustransitsa.htm

"The angular diameter of Venus will be 58".6, about 3% of the Sun's 1888" diameter."

So will it be visible to the 'naked' (ie using solar filter only) eye?

thanks, David and David.
found the telescope simulator.

also, i believe it will be visible as a smal, small dot with the naked eye? (when wearing appropriate eyewear for viewing the sun).

Last transit I viewed with a set of eclipse glasses and the planet was a significant size black dot. It was easily visible.
