View Full Version here: : Am I astronomy obsessed....?
Sitting in Rod Laver arean with 14,000 people last night anxiously awaiting Prince to take the stage...
I looked down the front to see a guy with what I thought was an 8" truss style dob complete with black shroud and wondered idly what he was doing there with that....
It was, of course, a spotlight!
doh!!
Prince was sensational by the way

I looked at my glass doors and wondered why they chose the solar granulation pattern for the glass just yesterday.
Astronomy gets in to your brain like ink into this chalk...
:lol::lol::lol: lol you guys.

My wife and I went to a wedding and she wore a dress with stripey rainbow colours and black lines across the colours. All I could think of (aside from how good she looked:)) was the spectra and absorption lines of various stars. Probably an M-type star from memory.

Every time I go somewhere even without my scope if it's a clear night I check the sky

Well since getting back into astronomy mainly due to my lovely wife wanting to look at the stars, (didn't take much of a push mind you :D)
everything she sees that is off world related she either sends a link to it or if in a mag or paper she cuts it out for me to read.
A great little info resource  just love that lady ;)
And you guys think your obsessed

:) I was in the local mall today , and looked in the local 'camera house' , and there was this cheep alt/az 60mm refractor there .
I walked up to the lady behind the counter and said " that scope is set up backwards " , and then proceded to turn the tube in the cradle / mount for her  , she said it had been that way for 6 months :confused2:.
Always on my mind, always on my mind ......
Oh yea , the scope looked happier .:screwy:.

After a 40 hour non stop Server/Network troubleshooting exercise, I was so exhausted, my wife looked like a 24 Port Cisco switch when she tried to wake me up, and I was looking for the Uplink Port ! ;)
Same with astronomy, every construction machine has parts that makes me think of stiffness and strength and how it'll work in a mount, everytime I step out I have to look at the sky.
Its infused..

Dave :D just make them like John Lennon Rose coloured glass's but use mounted filters... yeaaaah...! new rage
Okay, I wasn't game enough to admit anything before but seeing you guys have no fear I guess I'll add a confession...
Mind you, I think this is a really "girlie" thing.. because, well I am.. :P
I've just been made to realise that I have subconsciously....
Errrr, where do I begin  ........
I'm a neat freak, so my clothes are arranged in their group colour (makes it easier to colour co-ordinate and accessorise  ),
but finding out (by other people- long story)
I did it (subconsciously) to the duplicate of the colour spectrum is just plain sick. :help:

At work every component, left over computer bit, hardware that gets dumped is scrutinised by me for use astronomically to DIY something.
In fact all of my computers, many scope bits, even timber\ply and certainly small fans, alum tubes for DIY etc all come gratis of works upgrade system. Skeletope II owes it existence to our marketing dept throwing out all their old alum tubed display stands. Even the carpet tiles in the Ob are off cuts from ... well, you know where.
Mind you my job is so boring I have to keep my mind working on something ... run up another PC, run up another laptop......
Sorry, ... I don't do the coordinated clothes thing Suzy ... :P but I have a collection of Steam Punk Cuff Links ..... does that count

LoL Suzy, that is priceless. Now that you're aware, I bet you are tempted to try out spectra of different stars each week??

I was playing tennis the other night and noticed 3 intersecting cracks on the court that looked a lot like Eta Carinae Nebula
