Hi all,
I imaged for a few hours yesterday (seems like a lifetime ago already). I managed some of the super proms that have been quite spectacular for us Sun nuts!
I am very pleased with the arrow head prom as I think it is my best to date - the fine wispy detail was great to see on the screen and in the final process.
The Venus transit is almost here - please everyone cross what ever you want and wish for clear skies.....please.......
Taken through the Lunt80, 2.5 Powermate, DMK31 and processed in Registax5.

Hi Matt

Nice work – given the very strong SW winds yesterday, I am surprised that you were able to hold onto your telescope let alone cut through the awful seeing!

Cheers

Hi Dennis - if it was not for awful seeing I would have no seeing at all!

Very Nice Matt.

That second one almost looks like a bird, with the two eyes and a beak.

A bit roadrunnerish....;)

Meep Meep! :)

Very nice indeed!

Cheers

How do you go about processing the Proms? I do okay with the solar disc, but I get atchy results with the proms. I caught that monster too, and I'd like to try and squeeze as much out of my capture as I can. Yours are gorgeous.

I had wall to wall cloud yesterday, hoping it will be clear for the transit.

Thanks all!
Peter, my processing is pretty basic and I believe the raw data was good and that helped alot! I have never bee successful on proms!
I just use Registax5, load, pick one feature on the best early frame I find, use 90% quality and after it does its run I tweak the quality up or down to obtain between 50 - 100 frames to stack.
Once stacked I use the sliders but never go too strong, I use the brightness and contrast a bit and then save.
Thanks for the king words too!
