Hi all,

While camping at lake Wivenhoe for the weekend, I decided to try a star trail image of Venus and Orion setting over the lake. I shot about 1 hrs worth of 15 second exposures. Probably should have gone a bit longer, but the camera battery was going flat and I wanted to get some darks before it completely ran out. Anyway, here's the result.

(I also captured a nice ISS pass reflected in the lake, which I posted here (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=851524#post851524) )

Cheers,
Stephen

Very interesting result with the accumulation of the reflections in the lake.

Stephen, reckon you can straighten the horizon? Also, clone out the white light at the left while you're at it. :)

Very interesting! Looks like someone knocked the elbow of the artist as Venus was getting near the horizon ;)

Wonderful!
Do like the way the star trails melt into the sunset

Thanks Humayun, jjj, Mike and Deeno! It was interesting to see the changing appearance of the Venus reflections as it was setting. I think a little gust of wind came through, which made the reflection spread out for a while.

Here's a straightened version with that light removed, H.

Stephen

Cool colours. I like the smeared reflection. It adds texture and makes the shot interesting and good contrast from the straight skies.

That's beautiful! I've been wanting to shoot something like this for a while, but I didn't realise that Wivenhoe could be calm enough for it.
