After missing some of the best weather Brisbanes has seen for a while I managed to test out my new flattener with the 5"apo and managed to get 9x10 min Ha of IC2948 and 2x10 min of M8. These were basically tests to see if I could reposition the scope to the same place after a meridian flip or after refocusing on a bright star. I was surprised at how much data M8 presented after just a two subs of 10min Ha. No flats, darks or bias.
I will have to go back tonight a get some more data on this.

Nice fields. Is that with the WOFF4?
Bright star in the chicken has some halos. Is this with the replacement Astronomiks?

Thanks Peter, Im waiting to see what you come up with. I'm testing out the replacement QHY10 tonight and so may add some colour to these.

Troy, it was using the WOFF4. The bright star has some halos as you noticed but its a newish Ha that I purchased with the QSI which I didn't get replaced. It could be the filter or the WOFF4 but it's not as bad as the other NB filters that I exchanged. They were really bad but Astronomiks replaced them without question. All three were really bad and I havnt tried their replacements as they are in my NB filter wheel.
Interestingly I noticed that looking at M8 I see a mans face in profile that I've not noticed before.

Well done Allan, both shots look great.

Looks like you have that flattener dialled in nicely the stars look sharp to the edges.

Thanks Geoff, it's taken a while but the flattener seems to be doing the job as you say

thanks Marc, I'm getting the SII and OIII at the moment so I'll see what I Can do with it. M8 well it's the first time I've actually imaged it with this setup so it will be interesting to see what eventuates.
