View Full Version here: : First real shot at the moon
This is my first real go at the moon - a few days short of full. Taken with a Canon 500D and an Equinox ED80. Still working on focussing and image editing.

Looks good to me, nice detail at the terminator, even some definition in the brighter areas.
Well done IMHO

Well done BC. Great shot! Perhaps a bit less brightness overall.
Cheers,
Eric
Thanks, I realise the moon is a pretty simple start, but good fun.

What were your camera settings?
Is it a single or stacked image?
:) You've done well on this one.
Sorry, forgot the basic info:
ISO 100
WB Daylight
Shutter 1/100 sec
Single image
Basic sharpening in DPP
Taken as a quick snap from the camera tripod

Thanks for the details.
Next time, try dropping your exposure time down to 180th sec or more. It's easier to boost the brightness than it is to try to tone down the over exposed areas.
Have you considered stacking yet?
Thanks for the tips jjj. I didn't realise people stacked moon shots but open to all suggestions

Stacking and image post-processing is a lot of fun ( and sometimes hard work too!).
