Took a few pics at Blackheath a couple of weeks ago to try out my new Canon 17-40mm L lens coupled to the 5D MkII. I am very pleased with the results, my images have a certain sharpness, contrast and naturalness which are more appealing compared to my other non L lenses. Of course these pics aren't as sharp as the originals owing to the resizing.

Nicely done, Steve.
Great lens (my landscape workhorse) on a great camera. :)

That's why you sharpen AFTER resizing.

Thanks guys for your comments, particularly resharpening after resizing. I'm off overseas in June/July to Europe and England for a couple of months and would like to take my 5D/17-40 but worry about theft, damage etc. I have some pretty capable P & S cameras but not in the class of this outfit. Comments please.

Steve,
Travel insurance is your friend.
I've been to New Zealand a number of times, and, the camera has been through all sorts of weather/environments and it has been fine. Directly under 160m of water pummelling down a waterfall. No problem.
