Last night I visited the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium for their 'Saturday Night Live' show under the dome. The curved walkway that wraps around the dome has poster size images of Planets and DSO's. Some familiar names from IIS have their images hanging from these walls.
Congratulations to Greg Bradley, Paul Haese, Peter Ward and any other IIS members who have made the grade. It looks like these images all originate from the David Malin Awards.

A great honour. I had no idea. This is strangely odd as I have been to the planetarium a few times when I lived in Brisbane and even met Sir Patrick Moore there and now my image is there.

Any idea how long they'll be there for? I may be going to Brisbane via a course for work soon. I saw my four images at the Sydney Observatory. :)

Hi guys,
I was there last weekend (taking my kids to the planetarium), and saw these as well. It's the winners and highly commended entries from last year's Malin awards doing there trip around the country. H, you should be able to check them on the Brisbane Planetarium website?
Cheers,
Stephen

Astro images by Humayun and Chris (Hotspur) are on display at the Brisbane Planetarium as well. Sorry, I did not recognise members real names at the time. I am sure that there are others from IIS who have their works hanging on the wall.
The interesting point for me is the amazing quality of these images. The opposite wall has pictures that have been taken at professional observatories. In my opinion, the efforts of "amateurs" are on par and sometimes better.

They'll be there until 24th May. It's part of the official touring exhibition of the 2011 David Malin Awards:

Yes then they're on to Adelaide next... can't wait to see them. I may also have one on display (fingers crossed) as I had a HM last year.
I lobbied the RiAus here in Adel last year to get the exhibition as we missed out on the 2010 competition tour, so thanks to them and John Sarkissian we'll get to see them! There's also an opening of the exhibition that Paul and I and a few others have been invited to as well.
