Well I dusted off my old LXD55 SN8 as I haven't imaged since Dec last year thanks to work travel etc etc.
Anyway, decided to go back and do the moon again and also had a go at Mars (my 1st genuine attempt) and Saturn too (last time was with a Neximage Camera). Did a Saturn with IR in place and one with IR removed. Got the onion rings happening :rolleyes:
The results of Mars and Saturn were dissappointing. Not sure if its just the limit of the scope but I was struggling with an exposure of 1/15th and gain around 600.
LXD55 SN8
DBK41
5 x Powermate
FL = 4060mm (F20) Except Moon (2x Powermate).
Mars and Saturn ~ 400 frames
Moon is 500 frames in a mosaic stitched in CS4
Registax 6 - Pretty much default settings.
For the Moon, I find a 2" aperture mask gives me slightly better results so the Moon was done with this.
Been thinking about the DMK21/618 model. Wondering whether I would really benefit from this on my old scope.
Thanks for looking (and critique, comments welcome!!)
