I was unsure if anything was even salvageable out of this image as when i awoke from my hour and a bit slumber the dreaded eeepc update blue screen had struck and it was sitting out with my mount sharing a cuppa tea... grrrr.

At that stage i was too stuffed so i just parked the mount and went to sleep.

Thankfully there it had gone for a while before BSDing!

here (http://brendanmitchell.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/B302-forgotten-pond.jpg) is the link

1.5hrs 900 Sec -30 deg darks subtracted.

Very nice Brendan, lovely resolution, the dark nebula looks just like an ink jet black snake on the gas  Perhaps a bit longer exposure would help to reduce the noise left, however it is already a very nice image!

Clear skies

Great result Brendan, and amazing how it looks very similar to the Snake nebula. Nice to see something different, are you planning a colour version?

This was one of my targets on the list to do from Paul Haese's site next new moon, I love the beautiful reflections around the 2 bright stars in the sea of emmission nebula.

Brendan, interesting object nicely processed but the star flaring detracts me a bit, whats causing that?

Thanks Marco, I hear you about the noise, I think that 900 second photos are good enough for time as 1200 may just be pushing it a little too far. with only 6 sub exposures I would be more inclined to take another 6 first :)

Thanks Marc. Its taken a long time to get the 254 singing if you remember back to the issues i had with it.

Thanks Greg

hahaha The main body of the snake nebula only just fits in my FOV I did it last year but would like to do it again properly this year. As for a colour version Both of these I would like to instil colour in if the astro over lords are kind to me this month.

Yep there are some lovely things in here. a very forgotten pond as the lagoon takes the lime light! There are so many objects like this, just off the main field but i think are far more interesting!

Thanks Trev, The reflections are coming off the back of the MPCC I believe, as i have seen them with the 40D as well as the QHY9. Its a combination that i have 4 reflective serfaces, MPCC, Filter, Nose Glass, Cover slip and then the CCD. They don't really bother me and only start really showing near the end of the processing stream.
