Hi,

Another, from last friday, NGC 6334. I did have 2 hours of data but only used 1.5 hours. The images not used where taken in moonlight and the nebula was quite low on the horizon.

This is another one I found difficult to process.

Telescope 8” f/4 astrograph on a HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Unmodded Canon 1100D at ISO 800.
18 x 300 sec subs ISO 800.
11 dark frames, 9 flat frames and 9 bias.
Stacked in DSS and post process in Phototshop.
Cheers,

Justin.

Very nicely done, Justin. A good rendition of a pretty faint object.

Nice one Justin, looks like you'll need to create an album for all the images you managed to take recently, with links to their higher res versions.

I noticed almost all your subs are 5 mins, have you considered varying them depending on the object?
I haven't done much but in my tests, I take different length single exposures and determine exp lengths based on which provide sufficient details without overexposing bright stars. Objects with bright stars will require layering of short and long exposures.
But will be good to see a collection.

Yep that's a nice NGC 6334. Colour is good too. This one's very red.

Cheers

Thanks guy's.

Hi Alistair,

Yep what you have said is my next step, now Iv'e sorted out what my setup is capable of. Longer exposures, varied between 3 minutes and 5 minutes although 5 minutes seems to be the sweet spot for fainter objects without over exposing too much on brighter stars.

As for layering in photoshop, that I still have to explore.

Cheers,

Justin.
