M27 First of the Season

:) First off the rank this season with the Dumbbell. :)

I wasn't going to use the 550d yet, but the temp dropped so fast in the early hours of this morning I thought I may as well see how she performs. (this model will only take acceptable images when the temp is below 10C)

1 1/2 hours of 5min subs, Canon 550d and ED80.
Unfortunately I forgot to switch the camera over to Raw after taking some happy snaps of the mount earlier in the evening. :rolleyes: grrrrr

The temp ended up getting down to 2C. :D The first taste of Winter. :)
If you're heading up to Astrofest, bring yer woolies with you.

Well, I would be chuffed to bits if I got that image out of my 550D.

Whats causing the flaring on the stars at the top? Blue shifted somehow?

Seems the 550D is a thermonuclear reactor like my 1000D, only plays nice when its frozen....:)

Still, like Martin said....envy inducing photo.

I've probably over cooked the image Chris. Trying to pull too many rabbits out of the hat when it's a one bunny Jpeg show. LOL

Thanks Martin. It's a contrary camera alright. But now we're heading back into the cooler weather, I'll be giving her a good work out. :) Gotta love Live View. :)
