Hi,
Just a very quick panorama from last weekends Star Party. I have just started working my first attempts at animation.
Thanks for looking.

Nice one Richard. Was this Saturday night? My guess would be Sunday morning before sunrise? What program did you use for the pano? Looking forward to your animation. I've also started rendering my first timelapse. 2 hours to go...

Hi Marc,
Thanks. Taken early Sunday morning well before sunrise - light glow in the east. For the pano I use CS5 extended - File-Automate-Photomerge-Auto with Geometric Distortion Correction.
My first short animations are coming along. Looking forward very much to your time lapse.
regards,
RichardJ :)

Very nice Richard.
A bit of some greenish artifact in the middle there like noise banding.
I am into these DSLR milky way panos at the moment and I notice most DSLR wide night shots show up a lot of green. I know there must be some green but it usually is more green noise and throws the colour balance off.
Rogelio Andrea's HLVG free plug in is a must for these DSLR shots. If you boost saturation you will just get more of the green coming through otherwise.
Once its removed you can up saturation and get a more colourful look.
Often also DSLR images look a little flat. I guess that is lack of overall exposure and the only way around that is to mount the camera and go for 3-5 minute subs or longer. That makes it harder to do the pano but these are some of the barriers I think to ideal DSLR panos of Milky Way.
Greg.

Hi Greg,
I've also noticed the issue with the green. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

TBH there is always a green cast close to the horizon, even more prominent when it fogs up or gets cloudier. Sky glow is also present. I would only worry about green cast on a long FL shot up ahead but wouldn't worry about it on a short FL widefield shot.
