Managed a free leave pass to pack the scope and head off for a few days camping....must have done something right!

Spent a few days soaking up the spectacular scenery of the Warrumbungle National Park and enjoyed some beautifully dark clear skies.
Even though the seeing was mostly average for the duration (5mm radian only came out once...briefly) it was great to get away from the soggy weather and light polluted skies of the Central Coast.

Had the Wambelong camp ground mostly to myself which was a bonus considering the school holidays. Wish I could do this sort of thing more often.......'sigh'

Anywho..indulged in a few bush walks, met a few friendly locals and shot some scenery. The last is Split Rock, 49 bracketed exposures taken around sunset then tone blended (HDR).

Cheers

Thanks Mike. Have a couple I haven't really looked at yet.

The problem is, I see pics in here and try and duplicate them and the poor old D200 just doesn't perform at higher iso values like the more recent generation of DSLRs. So the Emu is going to remain a distant memory.
My army for a D800!

Nice shots Deeno. It's a beautiful place alright, camped there a couple of times many years ago and would love to go back.

Its 49 tone blended frames shot over the period of an hour around sunset. Then toned down again in ACDsee as the end result was pretty intense.

That first Roo shot is pretty funny. I like the expression on his face

Great shots Deeno.

It's a wonderful area up there, sadly it's about 25 years since I was last there.

Must put that on the to do list as well.
