Hi folks
well, having acquired data using 7 of the 8 filters in my CFW, it seemed rather obvious that I should go off and get a further 5 hours of data and create a NB version of this field (SHO palette).

So, this is SII, Ha, OIII consisting of 5 hours each. No RGB stars required. Again, much like the Ha emission, the NB representation is so much more interesting than the somewhat bland red that is typical of an emission nebula.

thanks for looking

Nice Martin, is it part of a mosaic?

The area bottom right appears to be abruptly cut off so the framing doesn't appeal to me but it could be part of your master plan :)

Interesting changes in tone and hue. Looked at from the overall perspective one can see knots of dark dust. The gradual dropping away of gas to the top left hand corner looks quite interesting and shows how much activity is in this region. All you need now it ETa Carina in the next panel.

What a beautiful target -
perfect pinpoint stars edge to edge & really stunning colours.
Looks great on my 27" monitor.
You have set the bar very high for others!

Thanks folks.

Mike - I really wanted the frame to include the Gem Cluster, so I kinda screwed up there. But you know, I have had several emails from people prodding me to go on and do a mosaic. So, mosaic it is.

cheers
Martin
