Hey guys,

I've decided its finally time to sell my beloved 8" Skywatcher Newt. This is a great scope for first timers/beginners looking to upgrade, or somebody who simply wants a 8" newt. This scope has taught me everything I know in astronomy and it is a regretful sell. I'm selling it because I need the funds right now :(

Package includes:

8" f/5 Skywatcher OTA. Comes with the 1.25" & 2" adapters and also the original 25mm and 10mm Plossls as well as the original manual. This has identical optics to the "Black Diamond" reflectors Skywatcher is currently selling, just without the black paint and has a rack and pinon focuser. Please note the guide rings shown on top is NOT included in the sale.

Orion Collimator and Baader Planetarium AstroSolar safety film, which has been mounted to fit the telescope

Skywatcher EQ5 mount with Dual axis motor drives and hand controller, also with the original manual. The hand controller also has a ST4 cable (The black cable in the image) to allow autoguiding.

It has always been stored indoors and covered when not in use. There is a small scratch on top the OTA and the usual wear marks otherwise the setup is in great condition. In the right seeing conditions (and eyepieces) I've seen the Cassini divison on Saturn, ice caps on Mars and countless deep space objects - All from my backyard 25km SE of Melbourne in light polluted skies.

I spent over $1400 on this, I'm looking to sell for $850. I live in Melbourne and I'd prefer pickup, but I suppose I can try to arrange freight at the expense of the buyer. I also prefer to sell it as a package, however if anyone is interested in the OTA then I'll consider selling separately since the EQ5 already has some interest :) PM if your interested!

This setup is also great for anyone wishing to get into astrophotography. I've attached some pictures taken in recent weeks/months with my 5-year old unmodified Nikon D80 to show what this telescope/mount can really do. All images were taken from my backyard without correct polar alignment (I just point it roughly south :P) using a piggybacked ST80 for guiding.

The first 4 images are from my 8" Newt for sale, the last 4 images were taken with my 80ED but also shows the capabilities of the mount for tracking.

A few buyers have contacted me asking if its still for sale - The setup is still for sale to anyone interested and I will withdraw the ad once it's been sold :) So until then, it's available!
