Tis the season. :lol: This is my in between image whilst collecting data for NGC6357. It still needs a lot more data and I need to get RGB for it too; though pretty happy.
Learnt something quite new though. I cannot use my luminence filter to focus when imaging in narrow band. I am going to need to focus in each filter and collect data in that filter only. This would seem quite elementary but I have found that most of my filters are par focal up until now. It seems the OIII and SII are not quite there. The slight defocus has resulted in slightly elongated stars (which look like field rotation) in the lower corners where there is some slight degree of tilt (very small and usually not really visible) which shows up when the focus is not 100%. This is purely the result of using the reducer which demands very good focus at f5.76

stars not pinkish which really distracts me viewing NB images in Hubble type pallets
Detail is there but appears to me more definition needed in core region
The nebula filaments looks soft and flowing but contrasting nicely

Very nice Paul. I would boost the saturation and contrast a bit though although I suppose that's personal preference.

Trevor, the colour of the stars is pretty difficult to control overall but I take your point and I hope the RGB will control this issue.
Alpal, going to a larger image would show up too many defects at present. However using a larger image for viewing could be an option soon.
Steve, I did a little contrast enhancement and colour saturation and quite like it but it brought with it more noise. Not enough depth there yet. I will take a look later today and see if I can clear up the noise.

Very promising start, Paul. It's interesting to see the variation in colouration even amongst those that are using the Hubble palette.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments.
Mike I guess I thought initially that narrow band produced images that were sickly green etc, but different blending can produce some interesting hues and views. :)
For those interested I have changed the site image for a great saturation and contrast as suggested by Steve. I welcome your thoughts. I kind of like it.

Its really an excellent image. Only thing that takes my attention is the keyhole nebula lacks contrast with surrounding nebula.
It'd be worth working out how to enhance that. I have found it difficult to increase contrast in that area. Perhaps sponge tool set to saturate or burn.
