OK FOLKS! Here we go.
Here is our little Daniel at one week old and two weeks old, having a quick break off all the breathing tubes attached to his face. Sorry the first one was taken through thick perspex, so slightly fuzzy.
Born 11 weeks premature and still in intensive care, he's now three weeks old and doing very well. He's on full feeds, putting on weight and has been off the breathing apparatus for over four days now. A good lookin' little bloke to boot!
It's been nearly 22 years since I was a dad the first time and I can tell you that this time around, it is a totally different experience. Even though my son to a previous marriage turned out to be a great bloke, I feel totally blessed to have a second chance to do things the right way instead of being a prick of a father and husband.
Baz.
Montage at the end of weeks one, two and three.

Daniel looks like a fighter. Neo-natal is a roller coaster ride. The best part about being in the premmie ward is leaving with your child in your arms, and I do mean that in the nicest possible way. It is amazing how tough the little ones are.

Hey Baz,
Great news my sisters boy when he was born was only arond 500grams and was only about the length of a margerine container that was what they used in the photo to show his size. Well he is now as tall as me and going strong he even looks exactly like I did at his age that was spooky when I saw him poor kid:P
Good on yer Baz,
I hope the little fella keeps going from strength to strength. And I'm sure you're being too harsh on yourself too by the way. ;)

Nice going Baz!
My wife was 10 weeks premature and she has an IQ of 178. Also, I regularly hook her up to a plough as she's that strong.
Good thoughts!

Thanks so much for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes folks. Daniel has had a really rough week this week with some prem. problems that while apparently common in prem. babies, doesn't make them any less scary and worrying. He's doing OK today and I got a cuddle with him for over an hour which I think did us both a lot of good.
P.S. Added week 4 montage to OP.
Baz.

Baz,
Makes you glad we really do live in a lucky country where we have access to great medical care etc... the nurses, doctors and health professionals etc on these wards blood really is worth bottling!
If it wasn't for the wonders of modern medicine, I wouldn't have a wife and two kids - they (the medico's) do a fantasic job that is often overlooked.
Best of luck - best wishes with you and the family!

All the best Baz. Friends of ours had a premmie as well, (Daniel as well!). He also had a hole in the heart which made his survival an on/off affair. Anyway, that was 2 years ago, now he is a wonderful boy with a checky smile.
Babies are a lot tougher than we give them credit for, I am sure your Daniel is a fighter too.
Look after yourself (and your wife) well, as Daniel needs all the love and attention he deserves.
Bo

Inspiring stories Jamie and Bo. Thanks for shining a bit of light! Daniel is having a rough time of it, but I have faith that this will all pass.

Baz our first was 8.5 ws prem, but hadnt grown since 29wks gest. Luckily was Abe to have steroids so he could breath on his own, just under 4lbs birth weight, which went down took few weeks to start putting weight on if I remember rightly
Hope all is going well Baz.
My thoughts are with you and your family.

God bless you and your family Baz. As an ex ICU/Cardiac nurse i can assure you that your baby was in the safest hands. Australians dont really appreciate how good our public health system is. We do really have worlds best practise and we are the envy of the rest of the world.
Am sure it wont be long before your little guy is running around playing Super 15 with the Brumbies. Cheers m8;)
Wonderful Baz, so big now. :)
Great to see, best wishes to you all.
Good value Baz
Great to see he is home safe and sound.
