I currently count around 40 telescopes for sale on IIS classifieds, most getting little interest if the discussion level is any indication. I think that makes it a buyers market :) Perhaps the weather has created a kind of GFC amongst telescope owners.

That and the high AUD.

We're prob at saturation, the high Aud meant people could all get what they want, meaning there are few left to buy

Possibly Mark,
But the level of interest and discussion is hard to judge, when many advertisers, for some reason, only want enquiry by PM.

I must admit Astrophotography took a back seat over the last 5 months with constant cloud cover and rain in the Sydney area. I used the CDK17 for the first time in what seemed like several months recently now there is the occassional clear night.

Good point , Allan.
Still there are a lot of 'scopes there available. They are certainly not being 'snapped' up.

Six months ago I would have jumped at a number of those scopes.
But the ones I'm looking for now aren't coming up.
I guess a lot of people put their unused models on the market with all the weather.

True Mark,
I myself just recently bought a 10" SW Collapsable DOB that had been on the market for several weeks.
I was actually waiting for something a bit bigger, but gave in, in the end.
Of course, the bigger scope (14" Orion) came on the market 2 days later but was snapped up within an hour. (I know because i tried to buy it too, just as the new buyer was leaving with it).
So the right stuff still goes very quick.

Of course there’s also this place.
Not sure how popular it is though

I've got people banging the doors down to get to my two scopes but I haven't found a suitable buyer yet - good homes only :) ............ and you have to also buy a washing machine and food processor as part of the package - I won't split :P.

I'll take the food processor if it has a 20" f/3.3 quartz mirror :D

There you go - more interest in the white goods than the scopes - the astro market really is soft :)

I've sold a few things there but only about 1/3 of the Oz Astro community seem to see stuff up there :)
