There was some thin, high level cloud over Adelaide last night by the time Saturn rose out of the murk. But since the scope was already set up and cooled, I gave it a go anyway.

The reduced transparency kept me to 15 fps even on max gain, which meant shorter stacks and more noise than I would like, but the seeing was reasonable enough to get this result.

C11 + Orion LRGB filters + TV 2.5x Powermate + DMK21AU04.AS camera, 75% of 2400 frames stacked with AS!2.

The cloud got a bit thicker, and I was about to pack up, when on whim I thought I'd have a go at Mars with the old Neximage webcam. By now, Mars was well past transit, and with the haze things were far from ideal. I was surprised by the result.

C11 + Orion L filter + TV 3x Barlow + Neximage web cam. 50% of 3200 frames stacked with AS!2.

Good job Ivan, can relate to the effects of the cloud, it has certainly contributed to the softer look with Saturn but still a most creditable result. Reckon Mars is pretty impressive Ivan, bet you were glad you made the effort.

Thanks Trevor, this soft seeing is a bit frustrating, but seems to affect Saturn more than Mars.

Thanks Rob, I was surprised by the webcam result. And the one shot colour is so much less hassle, I'm sorely tempted to get a DBK.

Thanks Ray, apart from the haze it was a very pleasant evening.
