Hi all, this image has the Tarantula just outside the lower left of the FOV. I would rate this as my best image of this region. It is 16x3 minute exposures with astro 40D at ISO 1600. Taken on the 13-4-12.

Hi Lester,

Difficult region to get right, there's so much going on.
Looks good to me.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Mike and Justin for your comments. I think what helped me here was to leave the Tarantula out of the FOV as it is so bright in the centre. All the best.

That's really very nice.

What scope is the 530mm F3.3?

Greg.

Impressive.
Now you need to do then regularly and blink them looking for the novas that seem to be occurring at present.

Good one Lester, great detail.
Would love to do this area of the sky but until I modify one my tucams for long exposure I can't guide in there.
Thanks for showing what I'm missing:P

"My God, it's full of stars!" - Great shot Lester! So many stars in an interesting field full of small nebulae / clusters as well.

Thanks for your comments everyone, I appreciate them all.

Yes Terry that will be next, to blink some. Although at this depth many asteroids would also show up.

All the best.
