First shot at Saturn with SDM.

This is my first shot at Saturn with my 14.5" SDM. Taken with a SPC900NC, using a 2x Televue barlow, tracking with servocat, captured using wxastrocapture. I recorded one large avi at 640x480, captured about 1000 frames.

I downloaded Registax 6 and have no idea how to process the image with it :P My workflow duration was approaximately 6 seconds and consisted of:

1. set alignpoints
2. align
3. limit
4. stack
5. do all
6. save

All settings default ofcourse. Critic is more than welcome :D Thanks for looking:thanx:

At home or a dark site?

Because this is pretty much what we saw through (your pre-loved) SW10" last night at the Pony Club. We were using Dave's (Racecar) Ethos 13 with a TV 3x barlow. (close to 300x mag.) Pretty much the limit as I understand it.
But the visual image was similar to your shot (just not quite as much definition or colour in the banding). :thumbsup:

That's a good result, especially for a webcam and "all defaults" processing. I think you are fortunate to have abundant aperture there.

With such a good starting point, I think it would be well worth your while to investigate processing with Registax 6 (or even better, Autostakkert!2) more fully.

Good starting point with the SDM. This image (http://paulhaese.net/2june2007.html)is what you can do with an SDM with some more practice. Taken in 2007 with a much slower camera, but it should give you an idea of the potential you have at your disposal.

Allan I took this Friday night from my backyard. Glad to hear the SW is giving you pleasing images :) I'm surprised you balanced the ethos in it!
