I'm curious about something that has happened a few times here. Occasionaly I'll take 5 minutes to type a reply..... either I'm thinking what to say next, or the phone rings and I get up for a minute or two, etc... The thing is, every time I take a couple minutes to reply for some reason when I hit the reply button a message comes up saying I have to be logged in to reply (even though I am logged in.) I have to copy and paste my reply into Microsoft Word, exit IceInSpace (but not my browser) log in again, copy & paste back in, then hit reply.
Any ideas why this keeps happening?
hi gary,
when you log in theres a little box that says "keep me logged in" or something. check the box and you should be fine :)
hope that fixes it.

No idea Gary.??? I get that on another site (damn pain in the backside it is too) and found out later that unless the site receives a response in a predetermined time it automatically logs you out. But I'm pretty sure that doesn't apply here as I often have IIS open in the background nearly day on some weekends and don't have to log in.
If Mike or mojo don't see this thread and reply drop them a pm.

I had the same problem ages ago, it seemed to be a cookie problem I couldn't fix. I found leaving the 'who's online' open in another tab/window counteracted the problem as it continually refreshes .

I've had the same problem for quite a while now since the upgrade.
I've cleared the cache and deleted internet cookies and still no luck although that has worked for some other members.
Also the remember me box does not work for me.I tick the box but still get logged out and always have to re log in and when i log in sometimes on the front forum page it shows that 0 members have visited the site today and 0 members have posted today and whilst being logged out it still shows my name as being currently active, very strange.
I also find that since the upgrade the time to log in or going between pages on a thread is extremely slow, sometimes between 8 and 14 seconds.
The only thing that has slightly fixed for me is that after taking some time to reply to a post and getting logged out,it used to delete my post and i would have to re write it again, where as now when i re login it posts my post without deleting it.
I have learnt to live with it ,but seen as it has been brought up again since my last thread of (keep getting logged out) i'm just letting you know the main problems i'm still having since the upgrade in the hope that someone might be able to help.

It'll almost definitely be one of:
1. Your browser cookie/security settings
2. Your firewall software if you run any
3. Your proxy settings if you run through a proxy.
In 95% of cases it'd be number 1. Occasionally it's one of the others that cause this kind of problem.
In IE there's quite a lot of ways to turn cookies on/off in various ways. Session cookies and normal cookies. It's a case of getting the combination that works but provides you with the highlest level of security that you desire yet still having the cookies working. I'd suggest setting security to it's lowest setting (in IE), enabling all cookie settings, and working from there..
I'd be surprised if you couldn't get it working by changing that kind of thing. Or by changing firewall settings if you use a firewall program.

I agree with Roger...more then likely number 1.
I'll put $10 on the nose.....lol
my smilies havent been clickable for some time! :(
Sorry to hear some people are having problems. The forum relies heavily on cookies and javascript. If your browser isn't handling them, then needless to say, you're going to have problems navigating the site.
If people are having log-in problems then I suspect it's a cookie issue.
Internet Explorer: Check the security level.
Firefox: Tools->Options->Privacy->Cookies
If people can't click on smilies then it's probably a javascript issue. Check to see if you haven't disabled javascript (or javascript/ad blocker/etc. for iceinspace).
Apart from that, I'm sorry but there's not much I can do about cookies and scripts from this end.

If I log in while on the forums page and then go to my mail box I have to log in again.
It seems that the forums login is not valid for the "User CP" link.
