2nd light on STF. Pointed FSQ at Eta tonight with full moon up.

I am very happy with new STF-8300 :D:D:D:D

This is just 56 minutes of Ha data. Those small pixels with FSQ106 realy bring out detail and FSQ keeps stars perfect right to edge of frame.

Full Field and then some crops attached. Click here (http://www.dslrfocus.com/gallery/NGC3372Ha.html) for larger version and link to full frame of 3300 pixels.

Will add color one day....

Thanks Marcus. The FSQ is a decent little weapon for widefield narrowband.

Way to go Chris!!! And you should be grinning too!:) Great detail you've got going there plus nice round stars to the edge!

And thankyou for posting full res!! There needs to be more of that!

Cheers, Marcus

You've got to do the narrow band of this Chris. Nice contrasty image.

Good looking photo Chris.

Detailed and so sharp. You have amazing equipment.

Monochrome always looks great.

Thanks Marcus. Posting full res is allways ricky as not too many people have the monitors to view them so at least this way gives a choice. What is general consenus for appropriate image size that fits most monitors now days ? I imagine most laptops and monitors run about 1280pixels now ?

Thanks Paul. I actualy took OIII and SII data at same time as Ha , just have not got around to lookign at it yet. Will get to it in a week or so as things little crazy right now with work life balance.

Thanks. I got the Pro Plus package which comes with Camera, OAG, 8 position Filter wheel, full set of LRGB, Ha, OIII and SII filters, plus STi guider. At the intro price from memory its about 5.9k. Peter Wards pricing was competitive with OPT in USA so I got mine from Peter.

Thanks Greg. No doubt I will revisit all my favourites with STX to compare. Be an interesting comparison to shoot exact same subject for same length exposure on same scope. STX gets much cooler though. I did some testing last night and STX was getting delta -50

Thanks Ross. No doubt having decent gear is half the battle and fortunately or unfortunately this is one hobby where money can buy you better results. Processing is still half the battle though and the great leveller but having good data from reliable equipment certainly is nice.

Yeah, I often hear folks saying full res doesn't present well on a monitor. That's nonsense of course. Your monitor is irrelevant. You can zoom out in your browser to fill the screen with the image if you so choose (<cntrl> minus>. Scaling down to fit on a monitor is a great way to disguise poor guiding, poor seeing, poor optics and poor processing though. Besides, scaling down hides the glorious detail that's there to be appreciated! Why would anyone want to do that?

Others might say they're afraid of their image being stolen. I can understand that, but there are ways of protecting your image and no one is likely to be able to make a million bucks from astrophotography! If they can I'd like to know about it!
