Sorry for yet another northern hemisphere object but it's all I've got at the moment. NGC 6888 or the Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula in Cygnus. This is only two hours of Ha but it still seems to show up pretty well. Colour will follow in due course and narrowband would be a good choice but there is only Ha on this telescope.

Cheers

Steve

It looks good Steve. Another Wolf Rayet star well worth looking at.

very cool. Looks like a brain suspended in mid air.

When did you get northern data ?

Thanks. This is Dean Salman's telescope in Benson Arizona. If you click the "Dean Salman" link in the image caption that should give all the information. I'm fortunate enough to have the use of it about 3 times a week.

Thanks Paul. I'm looking forward to doing some colour on this one.

That's a great looking image Steve, it resembles a giant cocoon to me.

I'll be looking forward to seeing this with the colour added.

Thanks Ross. Actually someone else said it looks like a brain. I rather like that description too.

Thats a very well resolved Crescent Nebula Steve and does not feature the part of the nebula that is usually seen burned out.

Thanks Martin. I'm not familiar with the part to which you are referring.

Thanks guys. I certainly haven't abandoned my loyalty to the southern sky but when one has regular access to a telescope in a part of the northern hemisphere where it rarely rains then one might as well use it. I hope to post some more objects in coming months.

Cheers
