Well, certainly a good time for astronomers this month, finally some cloud free days,to observe Saturn,Mars and the lovely conjunction in the western sky of Venus and M45.Here is my image of the event. Not quite to the standard of StephenM's images, but was pleased with the capture-and its made it to channel nine weather presentations around the country.(they call it a "Visual treat"The second image is through a Vixen ED 81 mm scope when the objects were the thickness of a finger above horizon.

Thanks for looking-cheers Chris

Great job with the first one Chris! You've captured some nice colour near the horizon.

Cheers,

How do people get images on TV? Is there a publicly available address that you write to, or, is it only available to those that need to know? Or, do producers trawl IceInSpace?

I don't have anything worthy of having shown, but, was curious.

For the regional places there's usually an email address you can send to and they'll consider it.

For example, NBN Newcastle has the NBN weathershots. I think they have a website now and you submit it online for their consideration.

Not sure about other regional areas or cities.

Thanks, Mike. It's all on their web sites, then. Cool. Will keep that in mind.

It was cloudy on the western horizon last night but we did get a splendid sunset.

I like both, the nightscape and the closeup. A very nice result Chris.

Thanks all,the composition with tree has worked well.

Tonight I was thinking of using the ED 81 on its EQ mount outside on its PA footings in the yard, and have the tracking going and take a large amount of subs, and blend them together. Not sure what exposure to set.

RE-submitting images to regional T.V stations,as Mike has pointed out correctly, simply google the one your looking for,and they have the usual spoon
feed set up,put your information and image and submit-H,if someone with my very limited computer skills can achieve it,you will have no problems, especially with your lovely beach images-send them something like you and Omaroo got on that beach with unique coloured sand.I've only ever submitted 2 images over the last year or so,and the local WIN Toowoomba weather put them up.Not sure how to get them on they bigger Capital channels-unless you use a cheap point and shoot, have unfocused images of Venus say its a UFO,and tell them you captured the images after a heavy drinking season, you will not have a chance ;)

Cheers Chris

Agree about the UFOs Chris - I even saw one on the news as out of focus but with the secondary mirror plainly visible!
