I got these tonight while waiting for my Daughter while she was at her guide night. I had a lot of fun with the 60D. The only thing that I have done with the images was reduce the size and save for the web. Taken from the foreshore area at warners Bay/ elebana area near the new over the water cycleway. Varied the lens and did some wide field ;) used a tripod, an unsteady hand and some luck:rofl::screwy:

I got the space station transiting which was a suprise - wasnt expecting that and a few artistic shots:thumbsup:

Well done Dave they look great!

My daughter had her guide thing last night too, walking from Pt Clare to Gosford.

Very nice!
I specially like the long focal vertical shots with the boats in the foreground, the Venus-Pleiades pair is then really a focal point in the sky.

Kudos!

very attractive images there David!,all very good.

I looked at Liz's images -Townsville location, and mine Brisbane area, and yours.

It appeared Venus was closer to M45 in Liz's and seemed to be slightly further away as southern images were viewed. Not sure if this is the case.

Hope the weather is kind to everyone tonight:thumbsup:

+ 1 for the wide angle photo. I caught the ISS in my binos last night. They have just enough magnification to give a hint of its shape.

Good stuff Dave, reckon any astro shot with a boat in it has to be a winner, especially like the 1st wide field image.

Which just reminded me of another boat story Dave.
I recall the first 3 SPSP's that we went to, all we saw was rain. Thought something had to be done about that, when registering for our 4th SPSP, confronted with which box to tick regarding, camping, caravan etc, I created another box for a boat and ticked that. We arrived at this particular SPSP, after 2 days on the road from the Hill, and wheeled the LandCruiser through the gate with our Noelex 25 trailer sailer in tow. Told Don Whiteman I left the scope home & brought the boat to ensure clear sky's, it worked a treat for whole duration of the star party. We wandered on up your then and put in a month on Lake Macquarie, it was a most memorable trip.

Cheers
Trevor

At least you got the nice spike effect on Venus. :P

I was dissapointed at my effort tonight too.
Don't know if I'll bother processing anything.
I've even forgotten how to set up the mount and scope.
