Amazing stories and photos, Phil.
I really can't wait to see the results of this. 9 weeks away from the wife - wow she's very understanding :)

He's not back in Oz yet, now he's on some skiing trip for the next week.

thanks all! i know i can take an ok picture occasionally but very pleased to hear you like the words too. it all seems very self-indulgent while writing it up!
not back in Oz for awhile yet, ski trek in the rockies starts tomorrow. then the real adventure with Kaz (my *very* understanding wife) in Scotland begins.. our first return visit there six years after i lived there for five years!
in the first week i'll be running a photography workshop for some of my old astro buddies over there before they completely run out of dark skies for the summer..
cheers

thanks Paul.. i think it will go down as my favourite from the trip and i plan to print it *big* for the wall at home. i wish i'd done more like this, although i was really committing all my equipment to timelapse. i didn't have any other nights where i could have got a shot like this anyway so just glad i did finally get around to trying some panoramas just when the time was right. i took a few at the same time but haven't processed any more of them.. my netbook has been procesing timelapse sequences pretty much 24/7 for the last few weeks and still has hardly made a dent!
cheers

It sounds like an Amazing (with a capital A) adventure! Reading about it was very enjoyable and I am sure the time lapses will be stunning - can't wait to see.
Cheers,
Alex
