Ilford past week-end

I went to the house Friday and Saturday night last new moon week-end. Friday was very windy and cloudy until 12:00. Saturday was beautiful.

I did a lot of widefield with a 100mm lens which I still have to process.

Meanwhile I had my NEX-5 shooting from dusk to dawn at ISO3200/15s in RAW.

You can watch them in SD mode which is a pretty fast download. If you're game and click the HD mode you should be able to see them in 1080p. They turned out alright although I have to work a bit on the color saturation but I was happy with the result, better than last time. :)

Hi Marc,

Star trails look good. What program do you use?

I love the timelapses. Friday really did clear up after midnight.

I haven't even looked at my Coonabarabran shots yet.

Great star trails.

You're off to a flying start with the time lapses. A tad dark though. Perhaps 30 second exposures may be the go.
Alex was using 30 seconds ISO 3200 F2.8. It seems to give more colour at those exposures too.

Nice work Marc, however they're a bit 'white'. With star trails like that, it's worth reducing the ISO so you can bring out more star colour. Or use lots of noise reducing and push up the saturation/vibrance.

The problem is of course, if you want to do time lapses, then you need the high ISO to keep the exposures short. Always a trade off :)

Thanks for the tips Mike. :thumbsup: You're right. I boosted the saturation a bit and it looks better. Will re-upload later. I think the color is there so my ISO seems fine but I didn't saturate enough in the final. Fixed now and will keep it in mind for next time.
