Hi,

Using eyepiece projection (17mm Plossl), Canon 450D and my PST took this image of the sun today. Processing was done in CS5. Unfortunately patchy cloud was around for most of the day.

Thanks for looking.

I had a look at the Sun yesterday with a Baader white light filter. Interesting to see an image taken around the same time but with so much more detail. Thanks for posting.

Hi,

I've done some more work on the image and have uploaded the results.

Hi Ray,

Could not fit the whole Sun in the one field, so did upper part and then lower part. 40 subframes (at 1/60 sec exposure each). Stacked and processed the images in Registax and then combined the two parts in CS5.

Richard,

That's a really impressive image. Is that with a standard 40mm single stack PST?

Surely you needed two different exposures to get the disc and the prominences?

Really nice work on stitching together the mosaic.

Hi Ivan,

Yes, a single stack 40mm PST.

Not different exposures. Manipulating the levels brings out the prominences which you can combine (after some colour correction etc)with an image showing the disc detail to give the final result.

Richard.
