Here's my last northern object for a while as the moon is starting to be a problem. I screwed up with the framing on this one because I thought you couldn't fit M81 and M82 in the one frame on this CCD but you can quite easily. By time I realized this I thought I would just stick with M82 but you can see part of M81 at the bottom of the frame. Maybe a portrait of M81 and M82 will come next dark sky.
Cheers
Steve

Good Ha coming out of the galaxy with just RGB, looks like a touch of IFN all around too.
John.

Thanks John. There is lots of IFN in this area but you need long exposures to pick it up.

Not too bad Steve. Needs a bit more focal length ideally. What camera is this?

It's a QSI 583WSG as stated in the caption to the image

This is one galaxy I have always wanted to image. I like the colour and the Ha shows good detail.

Thanks Paul. It's always been a favourite of mine too. This is just a LRGB too. Was planning to get some Ha but it didn't work out. For a 20cm telescope this thing produces pretty good detail.
